This project I'm really proud of. Every part of this was fun and something new for me.
I started this by taking my kids on a nature walk about 9 yesterday morning. It was a lovely cool but sunny day so I strapped the kids in the walker and off we went to the park, then our new house about 5 blocks away. At the park I found just what I was looking for. PINE CONES! Little ones but atleast normal looking open pine cones. And these pretty orange, yellow and red berries. I brought a plastic bag for such an occasion so we collected quite a few lovely specimens and continued on our walk.
When we got home, after the kids had lunch and were down for a nap, I cut some green branches from a tree in our yard and gathered my supplies outside.
My supplies included:
two wire coat hangers
scissors you don't mind getting messed up
zip ties
gloves to avoid pitch and pokes
hot glue gun
ribbon and colorful berries and pinecones
for decoration
After I bent the hangers into a circular shape, I zip tied them together facing the opposite direction so the hooks could form a nice secure hanging spot.
Then I cut the branches I needed and one by one zip tied the branches to the wire frame, needles all going the same way. I made sure to tuck the new branch under the last branch to make a seamless circle. However it is not perfect and i flipped it over several times to fill in empty spots. I also trimmed the edges to make it more uniformed looking. After I was satisfied with how it looks I brought it inside and placed my decorations to make sure I like it. Then I made my bow while the glue gun heated up. After gluing everything and letting it dry a good few hours I happily hung it on the front door. YAY!
